This live Discovery event led by Maestro George Marriner Maull will feature an exploration of Charles Ives’ whimsical Variations on “America” through the use of world-class recordings, a live brass quintet (information below), on-screen visual elements, and audience participation.

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS

Sean G. Hack (trumpet) is a freelance performer and composer active throughout the NY/NJ area. He has toured with Les Misérables, performed with artists such as Alan Parsons and Audra McDonald, and is the Eb soprano cornet soloist and personnel manager with the Princeton Brass Band.

Bonnie Callahan (trumpet) performs with the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra, Princeton Brass Band, and Coda Brass, which she co-founded. She is also an active arts administrator and consultant, serving organizations such as the Princeton Brass Band and Athena Brass Band.

Leah Jones Swanger (horn) is a performer and educator with degrees from Ithaca College and the University of Texas at Austin. She performs with Central Brass Quintet, Princeton Symphonic Brass, and regional orchestras, and her students frequently achieve Region and All-State honors.

Nate Rensink (trombone) is principal trombone of the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Princeton Brass Band. A New York–based freelancer, he has appeared as a soloist with the West Point Band and Princeton Brass Band.

Genevieve Blesch (tuba) performs with the Princeton Brass Band, Central Brass, and Coda Brass. She teaches at Seton Hall University and The Pennington School, and has appeared in major venues across the U.S. and abroad.
