Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra is thought by many to be one of his most accessible scores for listeners. Commissioned by the Koussevitsky Foundation, the composition received its premiere in December 1944 in a performance by the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Maull guides us through Movement II, Presentation of the Couples, a humorous demonstration of the timbres of the symphony orchestra in pairs.
