Discover Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony with image of Maestro Maull and the orchestra

I cannot deny it.  I am personally getting incredibly excited about our upcoming 6th production for American Public Television on September 18th.  Sounds like a long way from now, but not when we think about the multitude of tasks that must be accomplished in the next three months!

Not least among them… having all of the personnel engaged, and speaking of the musicians, we are thrilled to have organist Mark Miller as a member of the orchestra on this occasion.  For those of you who may not be familiar with the Finale of the Symphony No. 3, “Organ” by Camille Saint-Saëns, please take 8 minutes right now to sample it.

Did you do it?  Did you listen to this incredible movement?  Can you understand why the composer said: “I gave everything to it I was able to give. What I have here accomplished, I will never achieve again.”  On Sunday afternoon September 18th  90 members of the Discovery Orchestra and I will be uncovering some of the amazing facets of this movement with a live audience in The Pingry School’s Hauser Auditorium in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

We all can use a really uplifting experience from time to time… and this will be one of those times!  If you’d like to be a part of our live audience for the digital recording of this public television program, we’d love to have you there.  Admission is free!  But, you must reserve your seat.  If you’d like to come please email our Technical Manager Christine Thorsen at christine@discoveryorchestra.org, or visit our webpage for more information.

I guarantee that you will leave this Discovery Concert on a very high note!
